Neither of the two 24" iMacs in my office hum at all. I've had one for 
over a year and the other for three months and never a cross word from 
either.

Having said that, I am currently holding out for a tablet Mac, but the 
lure of a new notebook is strong and I may have to go for a MacBook Pro 
before long. I gave up waiting for a mid-range Mac-in-a-box and bought 
a Mac Mini for my new server and that has worked out well too.
