Quite possibly. It might have been the ATI card though. I think most
still hunt down the Nvidia cards, even though they're 'on paper' not as
powerful, they are more likely to be more stable. Certainly my
experience of trying different cards would back that up - on an AGP G5
anyway.

The X800XT AGP card was well over £300 in most places, it was the most
powerful card you can get for the older G5s. However, it was also rife
with problems, firmware issues and cooling problems in particular.

I tried three 'more powerful' ATI cards, and still went back to the
bottom-spec Nvidia card that came with my G5, as it still ran most
things better - it was even faster than the ATI cards in Aperture.

Of course they may have got things sorted better by now. However, you
could get the Nvidia 800 and 7800 cards for the AGP Macs, but I couldn't
get one at a reasonable price anywhere.
