Hi,
I was using my 1st gen MacBook last night and everything was Ok for a
few hours, but when I connected to my work's networl via Remote
Desktop Connection through Parallels/XP the computer hung for many
minutes. As I got no response I simply powered it on & off to reset
it.
All I got was a pale grey screen for about 5 minutes, before a 2"
folder icon appeared in the middle of the screen with a question mark
in the middle of it.
I was totally unable to reset it and progress beyond this, so inserted
the OS X Install Disc 1 and now I can't eject the disk. All I can do
is launch the Installer. Disk Utility identifies " Invalid node
structure. The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired ". But when I
try to 'Repair Disk' I get a 'Rebuilding Catalog B-tree' message, and
then "The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired".
Even re-installing the OS isn't an option as when I get to the 'choose
volume' screen there are no options identified to choose from so I
can't progress. So, I've a few questions:
1) Has anyone any idea what may have gone wrong?
2) I've been having problems with my work's PC - is this related
considering it happened when I connected to the work's network?
3) Has anyone any suggestions for how I might resolve it?
4) How can I eject the OS X Install disk?
As you can imagine, I'm at a loss without the machine, so any help
would be greatly appreciated.....Thanks, Jason
