So I got a copy of 10.5, and duly installed it.
What a mistake, talk about slow. Each time I went to turn off, I needed
to hold the power button to shut it down, othewise it would just hang
and do nothing.
It was woefully slow opening apps, as well as responding to clicks.
The fans kept coming on - this is on a laptop where the fans are rarely
heard at all, even on hot summer days.
So, back to 10.3.9 today, and very glad of it.
My next mistake was to try 10.5 on the newer iMac we have here. So after
the first install where I kept getting a blue screen after reboot, I
installed again. To get the seized up blue screen again. So googling
shows this is a known fault, but obviously unknown to me. The 'fix' of
using terminal commands didnt work, so it needs another install to get
it working, hopefully.
Christ, if this is how the OS is going, I'll be sticking with 10.3.9 for
a long time yet.
Anyone want to buy a retail copy of 10.5?
Alan.
