FF3 and Mac OS spell checker

by Gordon <gordon.mcvey@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 18, 2008 at 05:47 AM

I've been using the prerelease versions of FireFox 3 for a while now,
and one thing I found really neat about them is that they used the OSX
spell checker. Now that FireFox 3 final is out it seems that once
again you need to download and install a spell checker extension
specific to the browser.

This is a big disappointment, I don't like having to teach every
application I install how to spell my name, and the idea of a system
wide spell checker was a big plus for me when I switched to Mac OS.
Does anybody know why sup****t for the Mac OS spell checker was dropped
in favour of the extension approach?

Also, it seems like the Services menu doesn't work with FF3. This
isn't a huge loss as I rarely use it anyway, but it would have been
nice if it had been sup****ted.
