Discovering Applescript actions

by Mark Carter <me@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 12, 2008 at 10:22 AM

I'm very new to Applescript, and trying to get a few things going.

What I'm trying to do specifically at the moment is get the URL of the
current window of Safari. In broader terms I'd like to know how I can
"discover" what actions I can apply to applications.

I am far from understanding Applescript's logic, and I'm somewhat
lamenting the fact that Apple has gone for a "natural language" approach
rather than a conventional programming language.

I've been humming and harring over which OS I prefer: Ubuntu or OS X.
I'm a pretty keen Linux fan, and whilst both OSs have their niggles, I'm
actually now inclining more towards Leopard. I'm very much leaning
towards the conclusion that Linux is fabulous for servers, but will
never really make it as a desktop. It's too much fiddle; and I think
it's like they need to concentrate less on how cool something like
Compiz is, and more on getting some decent fonts going (yeah yeah, I
know there are some good fonts out there that I can use, but oh man what
a chore to set up some of the basics).
