Hello:
I have been going into a tizzy because none of the .pdf files that are
on the site I maintain will work on Opera (or any other OS X browser for
that matter). Opera isn't a Gecko based browser, I don't think, so I
thought I should be able to install the Adobe Plug-in, but I can't
figure out how to install any new plug-ins to Opera. All our PDF files
were created by my boss using Scan Soft's PDF Converter Professional
(version 4). I have never used the program, although I hope to be taught
how to use it soon. My understanding is that a ****table do***ent file
should be the same no matter which program created it. But perhaps I am
wrong? In order to view any pdf files, from my site (or any other site)
I have to save them, and manually load them in Acrobat Reader 7.0.9. But
if they are files from another site, I have no way of saving them, since
I can't access the server.
I don't have this problem with Opera 6.0.3 on my OS 9 computer, which
is one of the many reasons why I prefer OS 9 to OS X any day, except for
the lack of new software. I am hoping somebody here might have some
suggestions as to either a) why my pdf files won't work in Preview or
the PDF Browser plug-in, and/or b) how I can get Opera to load pdf files
using Acrobat Reader instead of these imitation programs that don't work
worth a crap. My site is www.reaps.org/publications/castings/index.html
.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Corey Walker

P.S. I should clarify that while I'm the webmaster, we are a small
non-profit society, and I'm a volunteer, who has learned some HTML and
other aspects of web design through hands-on experimentation over the
years. I am by no means a professional website designer.
