Discconnect from Macinstosh share

I keep getting disconnected from my mac shares on a 2000 
server.  the error in the event log is MACSRV 12061 
session from user "..." was timed out and disconnected by 
the server.  Browsing various newgroups this seems to be 
a common problem with both 9.x and OSX client.  but yet 
nobody has a solution, any thoughts
