It's simpler than you think, once you know how.

On the timeline are 2 tracks, the video and the audio track.
Select the whole audio track by clicking on it once.

Press <delete> key. Now find another audio track in the moviemaker
assets folder, eg an MP3 or WMA file. 

Drag that onto the audio timeline. If it's not long enough for the
video, you can drag another track therer (either before or after it)
and adjust the duration by dragging its end point to the left.
