I have a win 2k server machine sharing a drive across a lan. There is 1
Macbook running Tiger that constantly seems to have a problem connecting
to
the shared drive on the 2k server (almost daily). The Macbook is set to
the
same workgroup as the rest of the machines on the network, so I always see
all the computers on the network, however when I try to connect to the 2k
shared drive, I get prompted to set up a UAM volume...which never gets me
anywhere.
The only way I can ever seem to get it to work normally is to play around
with the Macbooks IP address..changing it a few times...sometimes making
it a
static address and sometimes not...until mysteriously I am able to access
the
shared drive normally. When it works, I dont get prompted with this UAM
volume stuff at all...and usually the mac will not have any problems
connecting for the rest of the day.
The problem always occurs first thing in the morning when this employee
connects to the network. (btw..the macbook is not connected wirelessly)
Anyone experience this before, or know how to fix this permanently?
