Hi All,

For quite some time (since I upgraded to Leopard, I think) Iıve been
having
a problem accessing my companyıs Exchange server from my home office using
Entourage. I thought that the problem might be fixed with the advent of
Entourage 2008, but after installing the new software today, I have found
that it persists.

I have checked and rechecked my settings, and they are exactly what my IT
department told me to use. I also checked the information about this issue
at http://entourage.mvps.org/,
and found that, while a lot of others are
having similar problems, none of the solutions listed there for this issue
resolved my problem.

I spent about 90 minutes on the phone today with Microsoft tech sup****t,
trying new identities, new users and examining my account setup. However,
nothing suggested resulted in a solution. The tech suggested that I should
contact IT and have them reset my account.

What happens is that when I start up Entourage, it asks me for a password,
even though I have it set to save the password. Then every few seconds, it
tells me that it canıt check the mail because the password or settings are
wrong and gives me a No/Yes choice as to whether I want to reenter the
password or not.

Hereıs what I have observed:

In my login keychain there is a record called Exchange. If I click Yes, in
the dialog mentioned above, it wipes out the password in that keychain
record. Then it asks for the password over and over as it updates the
folders in my Exchange account.

On the other hand, if I click No, it just stops the process and lists my
Exchange account as Not Connected. However, if I access my Account
Settings,
where I can observe that my password is entered and the checkbox for Save
to
Keychain is checked, and just click OK in that settings dialog, with out
changing a thing, it restarts the process of connecting to Exchange and
completes the process without any further incident. In this case, I have
observed that my keychain record for Exchange does not lose its password
setting.

So my observation is that Entourage is first asking me for my password
instead of looking for it in the keychain and then, if I answer
incorrectly,
wiping out my Exchange password in the keychain and then asking for it
over
and over.

Is there a fix for this problem beyond the simple work around I have
discovered?
