How to turn off and Remove Microsoft Database Daemon

by Bruce Young <byoung@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Nov 18, 2007 at 11:38 PM

Please help me to turn off and Remove Microsoft Database Daemon.

I had struggled for a long while with a previous Office 2004 version which
kept forcing the Database Daemon on. And I thought I had permanently
removed
it.

Note that I have turned OFF OFF OFF the Entourage option for including
Spotlight. So I do NOT NEED Database Daemon to run 24-7 on my computer.

Currently, Database Daemon is acting most closely like a VIRUS.

I went to System Preferences, Removed the Microsoft Database Daemon (MDD),
went to Activity Monitor, Killed the process. Rebooted the computer. It
seems gone, nothing in the Login items, no MDD in the active processes.

BUT, AS SOON as I start and run one time Entourage to check email, then
Quit
Entourage, I go and look at processes: MDD is now running all the time. I
go to look in System Preferences Login items, and Entourage has very
sneaky
inserted MDD to LOGIN ALL THE TIME AGAIN.

I bought the product to use it as I see fit. Now it seems I have to spend
time Killing the MDD process every time I want to check email.

HOW can I PERMANENTLY REMOVE Microsoft Database Daemon from the LOGIN
items?
HOW can I PERMANENTLY REMOVE Microsoft Database Daemon from running even
when Entourage is NOT running?

I do not want to take the drastic step of deleting MDD from my HD. But if
it
comes to it, I will do that rather than have it run all the time, even
when
Entourage is NOT running.

Please provide some help to a user who wants a computer system that is as
lean as possible. (Just FYI, I have turned OFF the Dashboard widgets,
since
I do not use them, and I mostly use EasyFind, since I pretty much loathe
Spotlight's interface.)

Thank you.

Now I need to go and sit down and breathe and breathe and try to remember
what good reason I had for spending hundreds of dollars to Microsoft so
that
they can take over my computer.

(very hard for me to remember my "peace and harmony" signature phrase when
dealing with this kind of MS program behavior)
