XP64 using 32-bit applications

by =?Utf-8?B?U2ltb24=?= <Simon@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 13, 2008 at 10:29 AM

Hello,

I have recently purchased a new machine. It happens to be a Intel Xeon
quad-core processor with 3Ghz processing speed and obtained a total of
32GB
of RAM. As you can guess this is not a normal home computer. As a result
of
the amount of RAM it has the system came with XP x64 as standard.

Initially everything seemed fine, I did however get a problem when running

some of my 32-bit applications (unfortunately most of my programs are
32-bit
versions). When using graphics program what I find my memory to runs out.
I
am not sure why this is, when I look into Windows Task Manager it only
shows
up that 1GB is being used, so what's the deal.

I checked in another graphics program and it seems to only be detecting
just
over a gigabyte of RAM. I am wondering does the 32-bit programs (installed
on
Program Files x86) have their own ram allocated to the programs separate
to
the 64-bit programs (installed in Program Files). If this is the case is
there a way to increase the amount of RAM allocated to the 32-bit
programs. I
would prefer to change the allocated RAM to a much higher number as I have

much RAM to go around.

If anybody can help please do send us a reply, it would be much
appreciated.
