I’m trying to find MS do***entation outlining the extent to which the Mac
RDC
2.0 client can be used with W2K8 Terminal Services Gateway (e.g., using
****t
443, etc.; see
http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/library/9da3742f-699d-4476-b050-c50aa14aaf081033.mspx)
and how to configure it to do so.
Microsoft do***entation seems to imply such functionality under the
following logic:
(1) The Mac RDC 2.0 client implements the RDP 6.0 protocols (see
http://mac.microsoft.com/MacOffice/en-US/Help/870500bb-d48d-4f90-b993-7d5a3f6f654c1033.mspx);
(2) Windows 2008 TSG is compatible with clients that sup****t RDP 6.0
protocols (see http://sup****t.microsoft.com/kb/925876);
this KB article
specifically provides links to the 32- and 64-bit Windows XP/2003-based
clients that sup****t RDP 6.0 protocols and therefore work with W2K8 TSG;
(3) Therefore, the Mac RDC 2.0 client should work with W2K8 TSG.
Besides, it seems unintuitive that the Mac RDC 2.0 client (to be released
well after the introduction of the RDP 6.1 protocols) should be
incompatible/less functional under W2K8 TSG. Yet, I can’t find anywhere
in
the Microsoft do***entation an explicit statement of sup****t/functionality
for the Mac RDC 2.0 client under W2K8 TSG.
The new Vista SP1, W2K8, and XP SP3 Remote Desktop Client sup****ts the RDP
6.1 protocols (see http://sup****t.microsoft.com/kb/951616)
and those are
the
preferred clients with W2K8 TSG, adding sup****t for TS Web Access
(http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/library/95258ce8-5ddd-42cb-9e95-cec19ef4f43d1033.mspx),
signed RDP files, EasyPrint, NLA, etc.
So my specific questions are:
(a) What is the Mac RDC 2.0 functionality under W2K8 TSG and, if not
already, when will it implement the full RDP 6.1 protocols (to provide
functionality on par with the Windows RDC 6.1 clients.
(b) Where does Microsoft do***ent how to configure the Mac RDC 2.0 client
to
provide equivalent Windows RDC 6.1 client functionality?
Thanks!
