The Mac cannot connect to the Windows-based computer.

by paulgoade@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apr 30, 2008 at 12:21 PM

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

I get the following message when I try to connect to my Windows Vista
laptop from my G5 OS X Leopard Mac.

- I am using RDC Beta 3 (080409).
- I use my Windows Vista laptop at work on a domain
(ntdev.corp.microsoft.com).
- I can ping my laptop via IP address from Mac.
- Using the Terminal app on my Mac, typing the command "telnet
windows_ip_address 3389" shows me "windows_ip_address: nodename nor
servname provided, or not known"

The Mac cannot connect to the Windows-based computer.

This problem can occur if:
- The Windows-based computer is not set up to accept remote connections.
- The Windows-based computer is not turned on.
- The Mac, or the Windows-based computer is experiencing network problems.

Try connecting to the Windows-based computer again, or contact your
administrator.

What are the troubleshooting steps to correct this problem?
