You might try repairing disk permissions & restarting.
However, it sounds like a Safari issue. If that doesn't correct it check
Apple Discussions for other options. Also, Hotmail isn't really a Mac
product so there isn't much available here in terms of sup****t. You might
use your Firefox access to inquire through Hotmail's sup****t channels.
