Hi Tim!

Can you verify that the home folder gets mapped on  a Windows machine? 
If so, then it is set correctly for your Mac as well.

In the AD plugin in the Directory Service application, be sure that that 
you have selected "Use UNC path from Active Directory to derive network 
home location" and that the protocol is "SMB".

Finally, while this shouldn't be necessary, you may have to actually 
make the home folder a Windows share rather than specifying a home 
folder on a Windows share.
