Re: Confusion over Microsoft Office 2008 12.1

Dale and Elliot, the Downloads page has a link to Additional Information 
for the 12.1 update. Please read it and see if anything applies to you.

Everyone--before installing a major update, try some basic maintenance 
like shutting down your computer for a few minutes, running Repair 
Permissions after restarting it, install the update with NOTHING ELSE 
LAUNCHED on the computer (****ft-login to your admin account to prevent 
background processes from interfering) and don't try to use the computer 
while it installs. Then run Repair Permissions and restart the computer 
again.

This is what I do, and even though I also make a clone before doing 
major updates, I've never had to use it.
