Just to make sure. You installed Office 2008 from the CD? You cannot
upgrade
Office 2004 to Office 2008 with an installer.

Use "Remove Office" and then re-install Office 2008.
Restart....im****tant
Run the Autoupdater and let it update the Autoupdater
Install the 12.0.1 updater.
Restart.
The problem of "no valid product being found" has been re****ted by several
users. There is no known reason why this happens.
