I am having this problem also. I dumped Spaces long ago because Word didn't
work right (which doesn't seem right to have to dump something that helps
overall just to use Word properly.) I am running 10.5.3 and the very
latest Office/Word release out a couple weeks ago. I double-click in any
other application and it selects the text/word. But, this is no go in
Word. I realize that restarting helps sometimes, but do you know how long
it takes for Word to start? I am at 40 seconds with minimal fonts and
brand new Normal template files (and all the other suggestions.)
Any help for this problem? Never had this problem in any application on a
Mac before.
