Im****t slides from outline view problem

I am very familiar with this feature. My issue is Mac related not PC.

We are using office 2004, when I im****t slides from a Word Outline view
they 
do not take on the format of the Master Slides. They remain white and text
is 
formatted as in Word.

On the PC the format would happen automatically.

At present I have to reapply the slide layout and the design template to 
remove all Word formatting. Frustrating because of the extra time it is 
taking.

Am I doing something wrong or is just Mac office 2004?
