Hi Barb;
Have you investigated the Toolbox? Most all of the Page Setup features are
available there & they provide you with dynamic results on screen
regardless
of whether you're in Normal or Page Layout View. There's no need to switch
to a Print Preview *at all*, let alone "quickly".
I don't know what you're comparing to, but in previous versions of Mac XL
Margins is the only setting you could actually adjust in Print Preview.
The
others - Scaling, Orientation, H/V Centering, Headers & Footers, etc. -
all
had to be done from within Page Setup. You then had to exit Page Setup to
observe the changes, then go back in to make more adjustments... and once
in
Page Setup directly from Print Preview most of the settings on the Sheet
page couldn't be changed [such as Rows to Repeat at Top]. OTOH, if you're
comparing XL 2008 to PC XL 2007 that's a whole different mismatch which
the
Mac version can't win at the present time.
I have no investment in the issue, but as a fellow user I think you'll
find
the new approach significantly more productive & efficient if you take
some
time to learn to use it effectively. Yes, it is *different* and requires
making some adjustment to how we're "accustomed" to doing things, but
"different" doesn't dictate *worse* any more than it does *better*. I was
as
disoriented as anyone when I first saw Print Preview [as we know it]
removed, but I've come to appreciate the new approach even more than the
old
now that I understand it better.
