=SUM returns incorrect answer

by Eliz@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jul 8, 2008 at 06:39 AM

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

the sum of a column of numbers (in the format [h]:mm) is greater than the
combined sums of =SUMIF calculations where all the cells are accounted for.
There are no rows hidden that could be contributing to the incorrect sum.
There are no qualifiers missing from the SUMIF calculations, and no
wildcards in the qualifiers. This is a process I have been carrying out on
sets of forms weekly for many months with no problems. Is it coincidence
that this problem has arisen just since installing Excel 2008? There are
several other formatting problems associated with 2008 so far, but
performing incorrect calculations is much more worrying.
