More on the problem.

Todays ruined file was updated from a previous version. I attempted to
open that file( saved yesterday as xlsx). It also generates the error now!

The version of the file before that was in .xls format and it does open.
As an experiment, I made a copy of it and changed the extension to .xlsx.
The same error is generated.
