Maximum text length in a cell

by SMPlante@[EMAIL PROTECTED] May 5, 2008 at 05:15 AM

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

Could-it be possible the maximum text length is now limited in a text
cell.

I have a lot of Excel 2004 files with cell with long text writen in it.

I was able (using 2004 Excel) to view, print with no problem but it is
impossible to exceed these limits in 2008 version :

Display text cell : maximum 255 characters
Print text cell : maximum 226 characters

When maximun is reached, "XXXXXXX..." are displayed instead of the text on
screen and it is not printing (but the space normaly use by the text area
is).

I would like to know if this is a new limitation in Excel 2008 or a bug
that will be fixed in a future patch.

If this is a new limitation, then why it is not working for both (display
and print) using the same limits ?

Thank's
