Why no auto-archive?

by Bill Robertson <billr@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 14, 2008 at 02:04 PM

Outlook has (and has had for a long time) a very functional auto-archive
process. Why does Entourage not have anything remotely like this function?
The File/Ex****t... seems to be an all-or-nothing deal, as far as I can
determine. No flexibility at all.

What I want is an automatic process that runs on a regular schedule, and
selects items (messages, events, whatever) and then either copies or moves
them to an external store, maintaining the folder structure in my
Entourage
mailbox-- e.g., something equivalent to an Outlook .pst file. I want this
external store to be able to live anywhere, but preferably on an attached
network server.

In our shop we have a 100MB limit on mailbox size. I need something that
can
be easily deployed to many users (without hassle or large expense) so that
they can easily manage their mailbox size, yet still retain access to
older
messages and calendar items.

I've looked at Entourage Email Archive X by Softhing.com and it has some
of
the missing features, but is still lacking.

When will Entourage have this function?
