FWIW, I manually downloaded the 12.1.0 update dmg from
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Office2008&fid=395D1487-A3A6-4106-A0F8-4D6E1D6D89D2#viewer>
Auto-update outbound is blocked at the firewall, so I don't use it.
I backed up my Entourage DB, just in case, ran the installer, and
everything seems OK. I opened Entourage, it converted my DB and
I had to re-enter my account passwords. Then it downloaded my mail
from three accounts without issue. I opened a small Excel file and
a Word doc without any trouble. All three re****ted Version 12.1.0.
I don't have any Power Point files to try...
