Are you still using the version of Messenger that came with Office 2004?
In
this case, updating to Mac Messenger 7.0.1 may help. You can find this
update at the official site here:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/messenger/default.mspx

Please let me know if you have updated to 7.0.1 and are still experiencing
this distortion.
