Hi!
There is a chance that the older version of Messenger is still on your
system, and that might be what you're running. To check your version
number,
go to Messenger menu > About Messenger.
If your Messenger version is not 7.0, then you can download it from the
official site here:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/messenger/default.mspx
If your version of Messenger is 7.0 and it is still telling you to update,
deleting your com.microsoft.Messenger.plist file from the Preferences
directory may do the trick. All preferences are located in your
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder for Messenger 6.0.3 and in
~/Library/Preferences for 7.0.
