Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

On Windows, it is possible to send offline messages. I.e. you can send a
message to an offline contact and they will receive it when they go
online. On Messenger 7.0 for Mac, this is not possible, the message is
instantly not delivered, is there a way around this? I would have hoped
this would be a feature available in the latest version but doesn't appear
to be the case.
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
