The G3 wouldn't be my first choice. Either a G5 iMac or the Intel iMac.

Patches are pretty much automatic, a little easier to deal with than on
Windows because there aren't as many. As for anti-virus, there are no
Mac viruses at this time, so don't worry about it. When the first one
hits, the entire world will know about it and you can buy AV software
then.

The iLife suite - iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto and iTunes. It will come with a
new iMac, but otherwise is a separate purchase. Add RAM to whatever Mac
you decide on. At least 1 Gig.
