The syntax I used was *exactly* as you specified, only with the
substitution of "/dev/disk2s3" for "/dev/disk3s12".

I know that "/dev/disk2s3" is the correct device, since it works fine
in this command:

I also tried using "/mnt" in the "hdiutil" command, rather than
"/Volumes/Data".  I know that "/mnt" exists, as it works with the
aforementioned "mount_hfs" command.
