it appear so, if you know the device name e.g.

sudo hdiutil attach /dev/disk3s12 -mountpoint /Volumes/Data \ 
-notremovable -owners on -nobrowse

mounts partition 12 of disk3 as /Volumes/Data. The device does not 
appear in Finder windows (-nobrowse) and can only be unmounted by root.
