So I decided to try it again, considering your suggestion about
configuration. Perhaps, some software that came over in the Migration
might
have triggered the freeze? So I planned to install from the CD 10.5 and
then
do the online update to 10.5.4 and the other things that Apple offers.

Guess what? The Gawddamed thing froze up while *checking for Updates*!
Push
and hold the button; comes back up; hit 'Software Update'. It starts to
download - about 1/3 of the completion bar before the sonnufa***** stops.
Now is that SNAFU, or WHAT?

About ready to throw to thing out the window and just get a new tower, but
I
have a SATA RAID setup and 6GB of DRAM in the POS.

Taking a deep breath now - s-l-o-w-l-l-y breathing out, breathing in ,
out...
