(Error code -36) copying stuff

I'm having some real problems backing up some lossless audio files.  So 
many get this error code.  What is irritating with OS X is that it stops 
the entire copying procedure because one file can't be read.  It would 
be so much better if a pop up window came up ASKing the user if they 
want to skip this or not.  Anybody know what (Error code -36) means?  
And do lossless (ape and flac) files often have problems getting copied?
