Only if you've lost track of the thread. Which, granted, is easy to do 
given the twists Paul has introduced due to his acknowledged ignorance.

It is if you're talking about minimizing the complexity of interaction 
between new code and a C source base. It's those last five words that 
are the issue in this branch of the thread.
