Anyone got MAMP + perl (for Bugzilla install) working on OSX Leopard?

by Hamad bin Turki al Salami <hamad@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 8, 2008 at 12:42 PM

I'm trying to host a Bugzilla system on an OSX Leopard
box. That requires having Apache, MySQL, and Perl all work together.
My first thought was, no big deal. Apache and Perl are pre-installed
on Leopard and I already have a working MySQL system doing something
else. What could be so hard? Famous last words ...

Basically, it's been an incredibly time consuming process, where
once one time consuming problem is solved another pops up, in
a seemingly endless succession. I won't admit how much time I've
wasted on this, but let's just say that at the rate I bill, I
could have bought a Macbook Pro with the time I've lost.

There's plenty of blame to go around, but basically, the root of the
problem seems to be twofold:
1. the poor quality of open source software
2. the tower of Babel problem in the Unix world
Neither of these problems is likely to be solved in the foreseeable
future... Anyway, I can elaborate if someone cares to hear what I've
learned from my experience with this.

In any case, my question is simply, has anyone out there gotten Bugzilla
to work on Leopard? (Or, Apache, Perl, MySQL to work together?)

If so, I'll consider pressing on. Otherwise, does anyone have a
suggestion for a platform to switch to where such things might
be faster to set up?
