If it's been getting any kind of significant use, you're pretty close to
the rated lifespan of that battery. It may legitimately not be able to
hold a decent charge any more.

So you have run it into the ground, and then you've presumably charged
it back up again. This reinforces the notion that the battery is simply
"used up."
