Whatever you want to define as an object, the fact remains that
MacOSX is Unix, which means the kernel is using paths and file
descriptors. The purpose of FSRef is to make a Unix machine look
like a System 6 era machine. You can remain compatiable to dead
operating system, or you can become compatiable with a current
operating system.

is unlinked or relinked?
