So, "piscesboy," I think you need to understand a little more about the 
type of person who typically comes to comp.sys.mac.programmr.help with 
a question and meets these criteria:

- Uses a "wacky" alias instead of a name.
- Follows unusual development practices (like using makefiles instead 
of Xcode for your first foray into Cocoa development).
- Asks for help on an unusual issue.

It often means they will be relatively green, and will not be familiar 
with the conventions and behavior of the platform.

Thus assuming you might not know that just typing "test" won't run your 
program is not unreasonable.  In fact, if you were coming from Windows, 
or from some Linux distributions, and you didn't have much shell 
scripting background, you probably *would* assume that just typing 
"test" should run your program.

Instead of freaking out with offense, take the advice that's offered 
and move on.  Also, if you're going to do Cocoa development, I strongly 
suggest starting out following some of the many tutorials that use 
Xcode and Interface Builder.  They're not "newbie" tools that pros 
don't use -- they're the tools that the vast majority of long-time 
professional Cocoa developers use.  Using makefiles and running 
everything from Terminal won't give you a better handle on what's going 
on than actually writing code and reading do***entation.
