I still use such a printer on OS X Tiger, connected via an

I think without the PS SIMM, it is quite useless for a Mac environment.
I did not test under X, but it seems you can't do anything with the
previous OS versions. 

Print a test page to see whether the SIMM is not already installed...

However, these SIMMs were available on eBay for a reasonable price in
the past. I believe the model number is c3152 for this SIMM.
