Got a 17" powerbook from a few years ago, and am getting more and more
vertical bars on the screen... like looking thru jailbars. Is there
anything I can unscrew and probe? Sending to a shop too inconvenient,
and anyway for a sick To****ba I succeeded in fixing a known screen
problem with a screwdriver procedure.
It doesn't look like software, since scaling the screen pixel grid
differently doesn't affect the bars location. And some bars are
affected by nearby mouse arrow (gets projected at horizontal offset).
Latest bunch of bars seem to be every other pixel, and keep a memory
of previous image for a while.
Thanks for any ideas... was thinking of replacing it with a refurb,
but not if Apples don't last.
