New Wireless Mighty Mouse overly sensitive?

by Heath Raftery <hraftery@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 7, 2008 at 02:12 AM

I'm a happy recipient of a new 24" iMac that I ordered with a wired
keyboard and wireless mouse. Lots of new stuff to play with, but
one thing giving me trouble is sensitivity of the laser in the
mouse.

With 1920x1200 + 1600x1200 pixels to scroll through, I need to do
some serious mousing. When I pick the mouse up to do a another
scroll, the cursor invariably responds to the airbourne movement.
In fact, I can move the cursor with the mouse held several centimetres
above the surface. I've tried on unfinished wood and plain white
paper with no perceptible difference.

I remember being skeptical that an optical mouse could handle subtle
vertical mouse gestures, but being pleasantly surprised with almost
all optical mouses I've used. I hear the new Mighty Mouse is a laser
mouse with greater sensitivity than an optimal mouse. Surely however,
this sensitivity while picked up is not a desirable feature!

This behaviour makes mousing quite painful, and I'm surprised I
haven't found similar re****ts. Is anyone seeing the same thing?
