Ok I changed the item under the general tab in the finder but when I
create a new folder it still opens in large icon view. The way I open
it either with a double click with the mouse or If I select the folder
and either use the keyboard as in command O or using the file drop
down menu or control click with the contextual menu its all the same.
The only way to get it to work is if I add something to the folder as
a drag and drop and use the spring-loaded feature to open it then it
goes permeably to column view. I find that so strange and not to Mac
clever if you get what I mean. And now if I have a folder in my
preferred list view and happen to drag for a spring-loaded placement I
loss my beloved list view!
What I guess I can=92t have is for a new folder that has not been opened
but has had stuff dragged to it to open in List (not going to happen)
view. But that procedure will not even open them as lists or am I
doing something wrong or is OS X just only going to do it one way
without a good choice in preferences? OK if I cant have it the way I
would like can I at least get the windows to default to smaller icons
when new and first opened? As the fact that I am using the older 10.3
has apple gotten better at view preferences and defaults with the
newer OSs?
