Metadata/ privacy concerns - PDF, JPEG and DOC

by London.Embankment@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apr 15, 2008 at 10:25 AM

Hi

If you create a new word do***ent i assume it writes the 'owner' of
the application into the do***ent. Same with creating an image in
Photoshop.

I would imagine this is limited to the serial number of the
application + the company name + user name entered at the time the app
was installed.

When sending out docs for people to read in business is the standard
now to use PDF? is that now the universally accepted standard? Or does
Adobe own that ? (Apple's preview handles PDFs without licencing it
from Adobe, rite?)

I know some people advocate 'openoffice' but I don't have it on my mac
since I use office 2008 (I am not poor Pages doesn't really cut the
mustard when using track changes & exchanging dox with business
people)

Also, when you take pix on your camera/fone did u know it writes EXIF
data into the files? You can use irfanview to remove this on the PC
(there are also utils on the Mac that can do this)

People should be careful what they send out.

have a nice day,

London.
