Given how long CSS has been out there, sup****t from some browsers for 
lots of it remains a considerable problem. Especially when you push the 
number of items displayed above sane limits.

Yes indeed, if you can arrange to have all your thumbs the same size, it 
makes everything easier.

On the other hand, for an easy CSS solution to getting up a quick liquid 
photo gallery from every thumb on the site, it seemed acceptable to me 
(I was asked for that gallery after the site was up - I can't see any 
reason why anyone would want to view the gallery).

I don't know if web developers strike the same problem, but the last two 
people who have asked me about web sites had a bunch of photos that were 
so small you could really only use them as thumbs. Converting them to 
the same size just made many of them look even worse. Naturally, the 
people involved didn't know where the original (presumably decent sized) 
images might be. Starting from 2000+ pixel images would have been a lot 
better (plus I could have used sips to do all the image conversions in 
only a few steps).
