Just to point out the obvious, this is a Javascript issue not an
HTML/CSS issue.

I think that you will have to accept that Javascript implementations are
going to vary.  Some things may not be implemented because they are
thought to be security problems.

By the way, I love Ansel Adams and got to see a great collection of his
work at the library at UC Santa Cruz.

It is an im****tant security issue that pop-ups can't easily masquerade
as something other than pop-ups.  This might be behind some of the
choices that the Opera people made when deciding how to implement
Javascript.
