Reread your very first post in this thread.  A simple "I'm curious to
know why you need to do this" would have been a lot less likely to
generate a response of any sort.  I believe you didn't intend it this
way, but yours came off sounding as though you were challenging him, in
effect asking "Why in the world would anyone want to do that?"

Then, after you misquoted PDFrank, a simple "Oops, sorry!" would have
sufficed.
