I never got into race games; I think I just naturally tend to
games where reaction speed isn't all that im****tant a factor.
A level depending entirely on luck seems like a mistake on most
any level. If there's no, well, strategy you can apply to at least
consistently better your odds then it's mostly a little pause while the
more competitive players get upset when they lose through no fault of
their own. (You can't remove chance altogether -- Civilization III
would be less compelling if every now and then the utterly outmatched
never beat the superior force -- but if that were more than a rare
occasion the game would be pointless.)
