Newsgroups all over have been pretty hard-hit since the big
AOL pullout. I think only a handful of strong-community groups like
rec.arts.sf.written or rec.arts.comics.strips are weathering it in good
health, and even they've taken hits.
James Nicoll, grand master of many newsgroups, says the cure for
a quiet newsgroup is five on-topic posts a day. I'd love to strive for
that, but I count myself lucky if I find time to play any of my existing
games twice a week. I doubt I could come up with five posts a days for
two days in a row, but I'd be willing to try.
Part of the problem, I'm sure, is that I really want to lick
Victoria, and I know most sensible folks have given up on that one as
it's got about ten times too many things to organize and the manual is
defiantly, almost proudly, gibberish. I doubt anyone would even be
that curious about action re****ts from it. (If I'm wrong, let me know;
I can gladly babble at length over minor things.)
